Feeder Density:
- The recommended density is one feeder per 200 acres. This density has been shown to effectively treat quail populations while minimizing waste and ensuring consistent feed availability.
- Adjustments can be made based on your specific habitat conditions and budget considerations. For instance, in areas with higher quail densities or varied terrain, you might increase the number of feeders to ensure even distribution and access.
Feeding Schedule:
- Implement two primary 3-week treatment periods: one beginning between March 1st and May 1st and another beginning between August 1st and October 1st. These periods align with critical times in the quail life cycle, ensuring that the birds receive the necessary medication to combat common health issues.
- Year-round supplemental feeding with Quail Safe Fortified Feed is highly recommended. This practice not only promotes overall quail health but also ensures that the birds remain attracted to the feeders, making the treatment periods more effective.
Feeding Directions:
QuailGuard® should be fed for 21 consecutive days to wild quail. No prior withdrawal of feed is necessary. It is FDA recommended that wild quail feed containing SAFE-GUARD® be fed as crumbles. It is not FDA recommended that medicated feed containing fenbendazole be generally broadcast, but rather offered through feeders. Users should ensure that the medicated feed is consistently available during the 21-day treatment period.
